Resampling HD Images with the Effects of Blur and Edges for Future Musical Collaboration
نویسندگان
چکیده
Image down/upsampling can give significant bit rate reduction with hardly noticeable quality degradation. This is attractive to our vision of realtime multiparty collaboration from distributed places with video data at HD resolution that must guarantee maximum end-to-end delay of 11.5ms to enable musical synchronization. Based on the Distributed Multimedia Plays architecture, this paper compares the performances of bicubic and Lanczos techniques as well as one recently proposed for image upsampling in terms of computing time, level of blur, and objective image quality in PSNR and SSIM. The effects of image blur and edges to resampling are also examined. The results show that the classic Lanczos-2 and bicubic techniques perform the best and thus are suitable for the vision due to their potential for efficient parallel processing in hardware. We also show that composite images with different downsampling factors can achieve 4dB increase in PSNR.

Contourlet-Based Edge Extraction for Image Registration
Image registration is a crucial step in most image processing tasks for which the final result is achieved from a combination of various resources. In general, the majority of registration methods consist of the following four steps: feature extraction, feature matching, transform modeling, and finally image resampling. As the accuracy of a registration process is highly dependent to the fe...
متن کاملImproving Super-resolution Techniques via Employing Blurriness Information of the Image
Super-resolution (SR) is a technique that produces a high resolution (HR) image via employing a number of low resolution (LR) images from the same scene. One of the degradations that attenuates performance of the SR is the blurriness of the input LR images. In many previous works in the SR, the blurriness of the LR images is assumed to be due to the integral effect of the image sensor of the im...
متن کامل2D Image Reconstruction and Zooming with Simultaneous Edge Preservation and Blur
This paper presents a method of reconstructing twodimensional images at varying spatial resolutions while preserving edge information and allowing for blurring. It is often the case that a user would like to zoom in on certain areas of an image. Such a zoom operation requires a reconstruction of the data to provide values at the resampled pixel locations. Standard reconstruction methods use a s...
متن کاملTuning Shape Parameter of Radial Basis Functions in Zooming Images using Genetic Algorithm
Image zooming is one of the current issues of image processing where maintaining the quality and structure of the zoomed image is important. To zoom an image, it is necessary that the extra pixels be placed in the data of the image. Adding the data to the image must be consistent with the texture in the image and not to create artificial blocks. In this study, the required pixels are estimated ...
متن کاملInvestigation of Resampling Effects on Irs-1d Pan Data
Image resampling is frequently employed in geometric correction as a part of preprocessing of a remotely sensed image. The resampled images will have a noticeable change in image quality, which may have an adverse impact on the accuracy of subsequent image analysis for information extraction. Information of edges is very important, especially in high spatial resolution imagery. The present stud...
